Fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 4700 block of Tanglewood Drive shortly after 2 a.m. after multiple callers reported flames and smoke coming from the residence. When firefighters arrived, they found the single-family home heavily involved in fire.

Crews immediately began battling the blaze while conducting a search of the home. During that search, firefighters discovered an elderly man deceased inside the residence. Officials said the victim lived alone in the home. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Firefighters worked for several hours to fully extinguish the flames and eliminate remaining hot spots. The home sustained extensive damage and was ultimately declared a total loss.

No other injuries were reported, and no additional occupants are believed to have been inside the home at the time of the fire. Nearby homes were not damaged, though a portion of the street was temporarily closed as emergency crews worked the scene.

Neighbors described the area as typically quiet and said the intensity of the fire woke several residents, prompting calls to emergency services.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials have not released details on what may have sparked the blaze, and investigators continue to examine the scene.

This is a developing story. North Nashville News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
